Voyager: Happy Birthday!

Yesterday, the space program Voyager celebrates its 40th year of mission. On the 20th of August 1977, NASA launched the first of the two probes for the exploration of the external environment of the solar system. Voyager 2 was launched first because they thought that it would reach Jupiter and Saturn after the Voyager 1 which was launched two week slater.  img_4507NASA said that in these 40 years, just a few missions achieved such great results as the two probes did. Voyager 2 is the unique probe that passed very close to Uranus and Neptune. Now, they are far away from earth, more than 20 billion km, but they are daily in touch with NASA.
